Corporations
The Overworld is ruled by corporations, each with their hold over some part of the population. You might find your Pilots employed by one of the branches of these worldwide corporations. Climbing their ranks may put you in a position of substantial power and influence.

This section takes you through the most influential Corporations but there is nothing to stop your GM from making up a unique branch of these corporations, or an entirely new one.
Takamori Institute
The Takamori Institute was the group that discovered the technology to enter dreams, calling it the Æther Link. Since its discovery in 2065 the Æther Link skyrocketed the value and scope of the company leading to the Institute becoming one of earths largest companies. Over the years, Takamori Institute conglomerated almost all scientific and technological institutions to the point where they have control over almost all technological advancement in the world.
One of the Institutes most noteworthy syndicates is the Future Tech Syndicate, a syndicate that trains Jacks to "acquire" yet to be thought of technologies from the minds of unsuspecting sleepers.
G.I.A.
G.I.A. stands for Global Insurance Agency and is the wealthiest of all the mega corporations. Controlling a monopoly on all forms of insurance has allowed them to have almost total control over the value of anything and everything in the Over World. Their insurance schemes have locked entire generations of families into servitude. Working constantly to gain access to the most basic stapples of life.
Those that were lucky enough to be at the top of the G.I.A. pyramid are under constant threat of blackmail and other malpractice so go to extensive lengths to protect their wealth.
One of the syndicates in charge of protecting these people is the Praetorian Syndicate a extremely wealthy syndicate that employs only the most experienced of Jacks into their organisation. A story comes to mind of a Jack known as Nero's Hand, who is said to have defended one of the syndicates clients from an onslaught of over one hundred Jacks in one night. This is likely an exaggeration made by the syndicate to gain more high-profile clients but there are certainly a lot of wealthy people still in possession of their wealth.
The Academy
With the influx of criminal activity linked to dreams and the potential for forensic investigations to expand into dreams it is no surprise that law enforcement needed to establish a presence in the Dream World. The Academy is a huge collection of Universities, converted police precincts, government buildings and schools devoted to training lawful Jacks in dream forensics and criminology. Once Jacks finish their training they become part of a pool of Jacks for hire that governments can hire to help in courthouses or state defence. The Academy is where many Æther Jacks get their start before becoming independent or going rogue.
One of the most famous Syndicates of The Academy is simply called Watson, previously a British hospital turned training centre for doctors retraining as Æther Jacks. Watson has become world renowned for the success of their Detective Jacks in international investigations and court cases.
